Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about OKUBI — from gameplay and platforms to community and development.

General

What is OKUBI?

OKUBI is a fast-paced, action-packed PvP combat game with a unique combat style. Dive into diverse arenas, competitive team battlegrounds, and seamless aerial-to-ground combat. Burst through the air with powerful mid-air attacks, then combo on the ground. No game plays quite like it.

Who is developing OKUBI?

I'm a solo developer working under Grym Games. I'm focused on delivering a high-quality competitive experience with deep lore and combat mechanics that feel genuinely fresh.

What engine is OKUBI built on?

OKUBI is built on Unreal Engine 5, leveraging cutting-edge rendering, physics, and networking technology to deliver a visually stunning and responsive combat experience.

Does OKUBI have a story or lore?

Absolutely. Ancient factions, a sentient entity called OKUBI, dynamic corruption that reshapes the world — it goes deep. Check out the full universe on the Universe page.

Release & Platforms

When does OKUBI release?

Release date to be announced, but I'm approaching a public demo in the next couple of months. Stay tuned.

What platforms will OKUBI be available on?

PC only for now. Console is not planned yet.

Is there crossplay?

Crossplay is being explored for the future. The initial launch focuses on delivering the best possible experience for PC players.

Is OKUBI free to play?

No, but it'll be low cost to acquire. No pay-to-win — ever. Microtransactions are cosmetic only.

Gameplay

What game modes are available?

Right now the game offers 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and Wanted (4v4 bounty hunt). I'm planning to bring additional modes like Regicide for arenas and Planetary Incursions — a small-scale open world setting where you'll explore various planets.

How does flying work in combat?

Players can deploy wings mid-fight with no cooldown and no mount. Combat seamlessly transitions between ground and air — chain combos from above, dodge mid-air, dive-bomb opponents, and chase fleeing enemies across the sky. Ground and air are one battlefield.

What are archetypes?

Archetypes are weapon-based and change all your attacks, mid-air moves, stats, and abilities. The goal is to let you freely switch between playstyles between matches — play however you want.

What is the Corruption system?

Corruption is a dynamic world event system driven by the entity OKUBI itself. When it stirs, entire zones are affected — catastrophic events rain destruction, or players are blessed with rare buff zones, treasure chests, and resource surges. Purification raids and world boss events keep the world alive and unpredictable.

Is there a ranking system?

Not yet, but there will be eventually. It's on the roadmap.
